Trojan Women presented with a new play, Horqos
Resuscitation Theatre is pleased to revive its award-winning production, Trojan Women, which performed to standing ovation audiences last spring. Trojan Women will share the bill with Horqos, another ground-breaking play by the Emirati playwright Saleh Karama Al Ameri. Horqos, performed for the first time in English, features the talented young Emirati actor, Ahmed Hasan, in the title role. Horqos, another gripping play by the playwright, tells the story of an amoral gun dealer who wants to create evil through the corruption of a young girl. He is unconcerned about the consequences of his actions and looks forward to the villagers killing each other. Trojan Women, the classic tale of the end of the Trojan War, adapted into concise, physical theatre, could be seen as the aftermath of Horqos’ actions. This evening of theatre boasts Resuscitation Theatre’s most culturally diverse company of actors, with 13 nationalities performing together. The performances are dedicated to The Queens of Syria as well as to all refugees of war worldwide. Performances are on Tuesday – Thursday the 18th to the 20th of November at 8pm, at the Emirates Writers Union Auditorium, mezzanine level in The National Theatre opposite Abu Dhabi Media, Airport Road and 17th Street. A voluntary minimum contribution of AED75 adults and AED50 for students can be donated at the door. One teacher free for every six pupils.
